The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) warmly welcomes the appointment by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko of His Excellency Mykola Kulinich as the new Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia.

His Excellency currently holds the post of Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine. He has been Ukraine’s Ambassador to Japan amongst other postings.

AFUO Chairman Mr Stefan Romaniw OAM recently met with Mr Kulinich in Kyiv to discuss ways of furthering Australia-Ukraine relations. Mr Romaniw also briefed the Ambassador on the Ukrainian community in Australia and the relations the community has with the Australian Government.

“Mr Kulinich is full of enthusiasm and keen to build closer, practical relations between Ukraine and Australia.

He is well versed with the role of Asian region and how it may play out in strengthening geopolitical relations with Ukraine, using Australia as a bridge,” Mr Romaniw said

“The long awaited cycle of having an effective Embassy in Kyiv and Canberra is now complete

Having Mykola Kulinich in Canberra, and Doug Trappett ,the Australia’s Ambassador in Kyiv is something the community has waited for. We can now build on these structures and bring our two countries closer together. “ Mr Romaniw said

The AFUO and community wish Mr Kulinich and his wife and successful and heartening stay in Australia.

It is anticipated that the Ambassador will attend the OzUke2015 Australia –Ukraine Business Forum in Melbourne on 25-26 November 2015 being organized by the AFUO, the newly formed Australia-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce, Centre UA in Ukraine with the support of the Australian and Ukrainian Governments.
